Coloplast acquires Mpathy Medical Devices
Today, Coloplast has acquired UK-based Mpathy Medical Devices (Mpathy) for a cash consideration of USD 30m equal to approx. DKK 162m, potentially increasing to a total of USD 35m equal to approx. DKK 189m on a cash and debt-free basis.
Mpathy was founded in 2003, with the aim of developing less invasive surgical solutions for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Mpathy’s core product lines include Minitape® and Omnisure® for stress urinary incontinence, and the Restorelle® family for pelvic organ prolapse. The company operates in the US market and recorded sales of USD 2.65m in 2009.
The acquisition of Mpathy Medical Devices strengthens Coloplast’s market position in Surgical Urology and Female Pelvic Health through: - Strong product portfolio in Female Pelvic Health. The portfolio consists of slings, mini-slings and meshes for stress urinary incontinence and pelvic floor repair
- Strong IP portfolio, e.g. Smartmesh® technology
- Specialized US-based Female Pelvic Health sales force
The acquired company will be integrated within the existing Surgical Urology business of Coloplast and synergies include broadening of the product portfolio and deployment of a specialized Female Pelvic Health sales force.
The financial impact will be included in the guidance for 2010/11, when published in connection with Coloplast’s full year results on 3 November, 2010. For further information on Mpathy Medical Devices please refer to www.mpathymedical.com. Lene Skole Executive Vice President, CFO
