Overview of actions 2007

We've been a dedicated member of the UN Global Compact since 2002. The initiative, which companies around the world may join, lists ten principles within the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption. Described below are our efforts in 2007 related to those ten principles.

Principle 1

Business should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.

  • Coloplast code of conduct on human rights and labor standards further implemented
  • Production site in Tatabánya (Hungary) has received a Health and Safety Certification according to OHSAS 18001
  • Production site in China is preparing for an OHSAS certification
  • A corporate tool for registration, handling and prevention of occupational injuries and incidents has been implemented in DK, HU, US, CN and FR
  • A corporate tool for mapping and minimizing repetitive work has been developed and implemented in DK and HU

Principle 2

Business should ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abusesses.

  • Stakeholder Engagement Process started up

Principle 3

Business should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

Principle 4

Business should support the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.

Principle 5

Business should support the effective abolition of child labour

Principle 6

Business should support the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation

  • Coloplast code of conduct on human rights and labor standards further implemented

Principle 7

Business should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges

  • Energy saving is a key performance indicator in internal reporting
  • Coloplast has started to report externally on emissions of climate gases in order to focus   more on global warming. The external reporting has occurred in alignment with the Carbon Disclosure Project

Principle 8

Business should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

  • Approximately 80% of Coloplast production occurs at sites certified according to environmental management system, ISO 14001
  • 'Newly acquired company is not yet certified, but has started to report internally on environmental aspects 

Principle 9

Business should encourage the development and diffusion friendly technologies.

  • An IT-application categorizing raw materials into environmental categories was developed last year and has been taken in use this year. It has significantly increased the effectiveness of the environmental reporting for the environmental management system

Principle 10

Business should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

  • Internal communication and training in the code of conduct emphasized
  • Reporting routine for all markets established
  • Dialogue with external stakeholders
