The Ostomy Skin Tool has been developed in co-operation with the professional Coloplast Global Advisory Board, which represents members of highly qualified ostomy care nurses from 12 different countries. The tool was developed for assessing the condition of peristomal skin over time in a global clinical study, the DialogueStudy. It has been tested in practice by the members of the Coloplast Global Advisory Board and some of their colleagues before being introduced into the DialogueStudy. The Ostomy Skin Tool consists of two parts; the DET score and the diagnostic guide. As the Ostomy Skin Tool is a novel, standardised tool for assessing peristomal skin conditions over time, it is vital to understand how the Ostomy Skin Tool works and to prove the reproductibility.
