Laryngectomy
A total laryngectomy is a surgical procedure where the entire larynx (voice box) and sometimes part of the pharynx (throat) is removed.
- The patient breathes through a tracheostoma
- The vocal cords are removed
- The alteration is permanent

Tracheostomy
A tracheotomy is a procedure where an opening is created in the front of the neck for direct access to the windpipe (trachea).
- The patient breathes through a tracheostomy tube that is inserted into the opening, called a tracheostomy or tracheostoma
- The vocal cords are intact
- The alteration can be reversible

Laryngectomy Care
We offer a wide range of products to help people who have undergone a laryngectomy. These include our Provox voice prostheses and devices for speaking hands-free, as well as heat-moisture exchangers (HMEs), tubes and adhesives for breathing. Tracheostomy Care
